Excitement Ltd

Our new business plan meant transforming the old Bath House, which was predominantly a bar, into a modern restaurant.
We let Deborah go for it! Reinventing what Aberdeen on Broadway is today.
Taking into account our budget and timeframe Deborah took our restaurant to the next level in a matter of no time.
Using clever design, colour, texture and the commissioning of bespoke fittings the overall result both inside and out was more than we thought possible for a tired old building.

We have used Deb Banks several times over the last few years. We are both busy and managing a family of six often means that we simply don’t have the time to hunt down product samples, and troll through hundreds of on-line furniture catalogues. Deb does all of this and, most importantly, she intuitively grasps the look that we are trying to create. Deb has a unique ability to think outside the square and her creative concepts often lead to a final result that is an enhancement compared to what we were initially thinking. We feel very assured working with Deb. She manages the detail, she is an excellent communicator and she works seamlessly with the contractors whilst holding them to account. We look forward to working with Deb again.

We have engaged the interior design skills and expertise of Deb and Palette Design on many projects, both past and present, and will continue this strong relationship with design/builds in the future. Deb has a wealth of knowledge, a keen eye for design, and her execution is exemplary. Deb is quick to understand a brief, delves into the project at hand immediately, acts professionally and efficiently, providing an outcome which is both self explanatory and well researched. Deb is well travelled, and her broad design knowledge and keeness to investigate fresh products (or arrange manufacture of her own ideas) leads to some really innovative design outcomes. We have been absolutely thrilled with the finished product Deb has produced. We have undertaken speculative properties which Deb has had free reign with, she deals with all the subcontractors, and provides concise and clear directions so there is no confusion. We have engaged Deb with the full design of commercial projects as well as residential – the regular compliments we receive are a true testament of her ability. We have high praise for Deb. She is a breeze to deal with, so positive and full of enthusiasm, originality, knowledge and her execution is second-to-none. We continue to engage the services of Deb as we embark on an exciting new project in the coming months, another great collaboration. Our recommendation would be to engage the expertise of Deb and Palette Design for your next interior design project.

Deborah was involved with our new build right from the beginning. She drew up a plan and worked with our architect to bring it to life.
In addition to this she designed our kitchen, bathrooms, staircase and many other special features in our home.

Deborah’s approach to her work is not only professional, she has a very creative flair, and is able to visualise exactly what the space and client is looking for.

Her sense of space and colour matching are inspiring and together with her attention to detail we got a home we are extremely proud of.

Over the years I’ve had many occasions when, through various projects, I’ve required the services of an Interior Designer. The results have varied from a plain meh to outstanding.
The end product is of the highest importance when it’s your own money on the line.
An outstanding outcome is everyone’s preference.
It set me thinking about the science behind ensuring just that.
By far the most important part of your project, is the end product, that moment when you show your new space to family, friends, staff and peers.
This new space to live.
It’s not rocket science.
Simply always engage quality
Ideally, if you want a song written engage Paul Simon
If you want a meal prepared, engage a Michelin Star chef
It’s the vision, the flair and the artistry you’re employing and,
It’s a gift bestowed on few.
For interior design,
Engage Deb Banks of Palette Design.
You’ll never regret it ever.

Our journey began 3 years ago, when after spending a lifetime saying I would never build a home, despite coming from a family with a long history in the construction business, I found myself signing on the dotted line and purchasing 11 acres of bare land on which to build an equestrian property!
At about that time the enormity of the project hit home! We asked around friends and acquaintances who had built properties before and most had the same or similar advice. “You need both a really good project manager and an equally great designer”.
Deb was the perfect match for us. Initially we got together and chatted about what we wanted, how we lived and how we saw ourselves living in our new property and home. This part was super easy for us. We wanted to wake up every day in a beautiful lodge. We wanted our home to be comfortable and stylish at the same time, a place where our children and their friends enjoyed being, and a place where we could effortlessly entertain our friends and whānau!
Right from a beginning she offered great advice, experience, and insight into the build. Things I would never have even thought of she could see immediately, just a glance at the plans was enough for her to spot potential issues. Some were only minor but others, like the entire window suite, were somewhat major! I am sure I would have been disappointed had we not sorted these!
Once the plans were finalised, we moved into kitchens, bathrooms and colours etc. This is such a massive job! Hours of research, toing and froing and so completely overwhelming I know I would have just settled in order to move on. Deb was there with me every step of the way, guiding, suggesting and giving me at times the confidence to make the big decisions without worrying! I could only see the item in front of me whereas Deb could envisage the entire room. This, I believe, is one of Deb’s biggest skills. She has the ability to put either a room or an entire house together and she knows where you should invest money and where it is ok to save a bit, knowledge that no doubt she has built up over many years.
For our family, the entire experience was awesome! I had little stress and I absolutely love our home. Deborah listened to what we wanted, chatted with our children about what they wanted and somehow managed to blend it all together to produce our “lodge”.
As I write this reference, we are in our 4th week of lockdown due to Covid-19. Every day we say how lucky we are to be isolating here and on top of that, after a month of hardly leaving, I still would not change one thing in my home! That says it all!

Deborah did a fabulous job with the complete refit of The Fat Farmer restaurant and bar.
When we purchased the building it was a rundown restaurant in desperate need of a total makeover. This meant gutting the building and starting from scratch.
Deborah came up with a theme for the restaurant, that we were very happy to run with. She delivered on all fronts!
She project managed the entire project adding the trademark qualities she is renowned for… attention to detail, creative flair and sourcing product.

We asked Deborah to help us with the decision of choosing a new colour to paint the exterior of our house. The house was sporting a very old style khaki colour with 1970’s bronze aluminium window frames. We had been through so many colour combinations to work in with these and couldn’t find anything to match let alone anything that we liked.
Deborah was amazing! She nailed it.
The bold colour palette she chose, has not only complemented the window frame colour but has given our home the modern and fresh look that we wanted to achieve.
We never questioned her choices as we knew she knew what she was doing and we trusted her judgement and her experience.
Deborah is one talented lady, who we would highly recommend and wouldn’t hesitate to work with again.

Just a quick note to say we are absolutely thrilled with the end result of our country home. You were amazing in helping put our plans together. As you know we had never built our own home before and while we both had a rough idea of what we wanted , we needed some professional help to implement this project.
Nothing was too much trouble and you attended to all the details from start to finish. Choosing building materials, design elements, colours etc.
You came up trumps with a look and a floor plan that really worked well for us and our lifestyle.
Deborah, you were there every step of the way, giving us the confidence to make the big decisions that one faces when building a new home. You have unique flair as well as being talented and competent. Your attention to detail was second to none and your positive demeanour made our experience with you a delight to work with.
We would highly recommend you.

Working with Deb was amazing from start to finish. She listened to our design brief, presented multiple options and guided us through the entire process (hugely valuable given this was our first project). The finished product is a top notch space that everyone is incredibly proud of. Also the project came in on time and on budget - a testament to Deb's industry contacts, product knowledge and project management. We would highly recommend working with Deb if you want your future project to be a success!
